Looking For An MPN Specialist.
Happy first day of spring!
I live in Connecticut, close to NYC or Boston.
Does anyone have an MPN specialist that they love and would recommend in this area?
If you can go to NYC I strongly suggest Memorial Sloan Kettering. Dr. Raajit Rampal is my doctor there and immediately offered me a clinical trial. I have PMF and am risk level 3-4. Care at MSK has been outstanding. MSK also has a center in West Harrison, NY which may be more convenient for some visits.
Dr. Michael Mauro is an MPN specialist with Memorial Sloan Kettering. They are a phenomenal, attentive hospital system. His office is located in Bergen, NJ, but he does telehealth if needed. He's the leader of the Myeloproliferative Neoplasms Program, Leukemia Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

I go to Weill Cornell in Manhattan and see Dr. Samuels. He is very caring and great Doctor.
Hello Marian,
When I saw your question, I did a little research on MPN specialists in your area, and you may have already discovered that few of the oncologists and hematologists who are in charge of our care are actually MPN specialists, and there aren’t that many actual specialists in many areas of the country. Of course, that really shouldn’t be a problem to you in such a populated area. There have been a couple of our members who have suggested physicians in your area that appeared to be their personal choices as they answered questions. However, I did check out one physician at Mass General who has very fine reviews. She is Gaby Hobbs, MD - a hematologist/oncologist who specializes in care of MPN and leukemia patients. She leads the MPN research program at MGH. Her reviews were very impressive, so you might check her out. She appears to accept new patients. Good luck!
