Another very insightful post from you, Tatiana. You provide a lot of food for thought, and we certainly need plenty of that to try to stay on top of our many dilemmas.

Dear MaryAnn,

Thank you for this link.

This discussion is even more important these days as it has become more and more obvious that Alzheimer's is a disease in which immunity has a significant involvement.
MPNs are also producing immune changes, via several mechanisms, from what I could read, so it is not unlikely that there could be an intersection between MPNs and Alzheimer's.
Over the last years there are quite some publications on MPNs and immunity.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10...
And some hypothesise Alzheimer's could be some sort of autoimmunity (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36165334/), and we know that autoimmunity and MPNs are linked (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC28...).
As another hypothesis is that Alzheimer's could be due to previous infections (https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2022-08-02-viral-role...), and as people with MPNs are more susceptible to infections (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC77...), that could also be a potential explanation.

Probably we are in a way lucky to live now, when there is enough knowledge, as this gives more hope for more targeted treatments for us in the not so far away future.

Many hugs of support,
Tatiana

My fathers side of the family has been riddled with Alzheimer’s! My father, his mom, all her siblings, and most of my dads first and second cousins all had it! One cousin had Lou Garrick dx and his daughter (my 2nd cousin- a Dr) said that LG dx and Alzheimer dx are related diseases
