Severe Daily Headaches With MPNs.
I want to share a very informative abstract article in PubMed that was published 12/06/2022 by Frontiers of Neurology.

Thanks Ted for the information. I actually spoke to my peer counselor from "Be the Match" last night and she told me about the medication that you spoke about so I plan to get that going as soon as I invest in the Navage Nasal machine. My contact said that hands down, it is the best thing she has ever bought to treat and ward off sinus infections! Like you, she had had no more trouble with sinus infections once she began using is faithfully.
Mary Ann, I too have had many sinus infections (some prior to diagnosis) but many more and much more frequently since being diagnosed with PMF. Like you, it usually takes several rounds of antibiotics to solve the issue even though I am very proactive in taking allergy tablets every day plus using the Flonase to ward off infections. Ironically, I am on yet another antibiotic now! It's super frustrating. I saw the ENT and he did a thorough exam last year which included a CT scan there in the office to check the sinus cavaties. They were "clear" of course bc I had just taken 2 rounds of meds and by the time I was able to get an appt with him, it was all cleared up, but he did send me to a neurologist too. Long story short, no one had the "magic" answer to the recurrent infections nor the horrible migraine type headaches that I was experiencing. Just one day after going up for special prayer, they went away! Now that's what you call a God moment of healing for sure. I pray that you feel better soonπ
MaryAnn,
I have had many sinus infections (and severe headaches to go with them). A few years ago I was encouraged to start using Budesonide by an ENT. I use a NeilMed bottle with a salt packet and an ampule of Budesonide. I warm distilled water in my microwave, add the salt and the medication, and then rinse my sinuses in the shower before I take a shower. Whether or not it's attributable to the Budesonide, I haven't had a sinus infection in years. Here's a link that might be helpful information ... https://med.stanford.edu/content/dam/sm/ohns/do...

I have had headaches--sometimes incapacitating, for the past 10 years. I thought it was related to another health condition but have recently re-evaluated my thinking on that now that I am diagnosed with ET JAK2+. I find that splitting the dose of baby aspirin and taking half AM and half PM works well to control the headaches. I use chewable aspirin because the enteric coated doesn't split well. I take with food. I saw this in a research article but probably couldn't find it again. Hope something helps for you and your medical people can get your health needs figured out.
You ladies are such a blessing to me, and virtual hugs to each of you. It helps to do a bit of venting, and I guess misery loves company. However, I must admit to feeling a bit sheepish when I succumb to the need for a pity party. I will save all of your comments which also give some clues. The frustrating thing is the thought of opening a can of worms and being referred to multiple specialists, when it could also be discogenic with my cervical arthritis and neck stiffness. See? A real bag of worms!
