I just join the group. I was diagnosed with ET back in 1997. I was 40 years old..I'm now 65. What is my life expectancy?.
I was diagnosed with ET in 2001, at age 51, and until the past few years everything was pretty stable. It has always been my understanding that we have a normal life expectancy, so follow your treatment regimen and try not to worry. I now have PV and so it seems phlebotomies are in my future, but it is not leukemia nor myelofobrosis, so I consider myself fortunate.
The same it was before your diagnosis for ET. ET will not kill you but you will die with it.
Is a bone marrow biopsy the definitive way to diagnose ET?
When did you start taking drugs to decrease platelets?
Has anyone been diagnosed with ET and had fairly low platelets, say 450 to 500.
