I describe my bone pain as deep, like a toothache in your bones. I see pain management and take a low dose opioid. I have bone pain in the long bones of my legs, left collar bone, and right ribs.

That’s the million dollar question, Kathy, something most of us wonder about. The researchers scratch their heads constantly about the symptoms/signs that plague patients with MPNs. There are those bone and muscle pains that are common with MPNs, but difficult to sort out from other comorbidities such as osteoarthritis, RA, and autoimmune disorders, gout, tumors, injuries, and a zillion other factors. It is all a process of elimination with tests and our reliance on our physicians and ourselves to rule out the possibilities. Any new complaints should be brought to their attention, of course.

When I had bone pain going through chemo I could actually feel it in my bones…it wasn’t an ache or a muscle it was truly in my bones…
