Hydroxyurea And Pill Reminders
Is it OK to mix hydroxyurea with other pills in pill reminder.
It's not a problem if they are for you only.i worked in a hospital and we had to take a pharmacological hazard course.yes hydrea is toxic ,and it is secreted in your body fliuds.if some one is handling your medication they should wear gloves or wash their hands directly after use.the pharmacy has strict protocols for this med and other drugs that are a class 1 antineoplastic. But these recommendations take in consideration of receiving and storing these drugs at the pharmacy.A person handeling these drugs on a daily basis could come in contact accidentally say a package opened and there is dust everywhere. Also care takers should be wearing gloves if they are changing diapers and any body fluids as a precaution they could absorb the hydrea through their hands.I dont think it is a huge problem been doing this for 30 years.
That’s good to hear, AnnHermann. I lay meds and supplements out a week at a time, the hydrea nestled in among other evening doses, and have been doing that 20+ years.
I personally would not store them in the same weekly container. I never touch the Hydroxyurea capsule. I slide it into a small lid, swish water around my mouth, slide it into my mouth, finishing up with the rest of the glass of water. This way I have had no mouth sores.

Sorry that I completely missed your point in my previous post. No, if you are talking about STORING your hydroxyurea with other meds in a pill sorter (as M-F), no, absolutely not. Hydroxyurea is toxic, and among other precautions that you can find in the Q&A under my name, you should not even touch it with your bare hands.
Hmmm, that is an interesting question.
I have laid meds and supplements out a week at a time for years, and always everything together, never being told not to.
