I have 900, am 72, and am still not on HU

By "cytoreduction," do you mean starting to take HU?

Nobody is excited to be put on a chemo drug.

But, generally speaking, when we have ET, being 65 or more puts us at high risk of blood clots and stroke. And every untreated day further depletes our bone marrow.

Talk with your doctor to assess the pros and cons of what's best for you personally.

Yes, same Emily. I'm 72, counts at 900, and focusing on nutrition, exercise, sleep. No HU as yet.

Thanks Kate2. You are right, no one wants to have chemo drug in their body, I have gone through breast cancer 12 years ago with chemo and radiation, that's why I am nervous about chemo. True that there are pros and cons....and common sense as well. Eating well is essential as well, I will lean more towards that in the mean time. Thanks for your advice though
