As a matter of fact, my MPN specialist, does not call PV cancer. Dr. Prchal calls all of the MPNs, blood disorders.
@A myMPNteam Member Your MPN Dr. is correct, they are not cancer but blood disorders. Just have the mechanism of cancer bc of making too many cells- that’s why the WHO was able to call it “cancer” when it’s a blood disorder in order to get funding for MPN treatment, research, etc.
Before 2017 all MPNs were called blood disorders. In 2017 they got the name blood cancer.
