Why Would My Platelet Count Be Normal Out Of No Where? I’m Not On Any Treatment.
I just had my routine 4 month bloodwork and my platelets are normal at 399. In march they were 396. I haven’t had normal platelets in about 10 years or more. I have only been on aspirin. I had a bilateral pulmonary embolism 11 1/2 years ago. Was only just diagnosed by BMB with ET last July.
That’s interesting.. Thank you.
Interesting you bring this up. I have PV and my platelets were over 800 3 weeks ago and yesterday they were about 400 so dropped a significant amount. The other numbers my dr. watches (HCT, HGL, RBC, WBC) all dropped some as well (not so significantly). This has happened to me a couple times over the past year or so. I only take aspirin (twice a day) and do periodic phlebotomies. My MPN specialist told me in the past when I asked, "platelets can fluctuate so nothing to be concerned about". Eventually they jump back up and continue up and down between 550 - 850. I guess we will continue to wonder.
My oncologist told me there was no remission for ET. I have not been sick either. I was diagnosed at 51 but I’m pretty sure I’ve had it from at least 40.
One of my doctors told me that sometimes patients go in remission out of nowhere, especially if they are diagnosed young. Doctors don’t know why. It happened to me while I was pregnant in the last trimester. But my platelets were up 1-2 weeks after I gave birth.
Is It True That High Platelets Are Not The Reason For Clotting Risk, But Mutations Are.
Does Anyone Take Supplements That Help Lower Platelets? Thanks
