Yes, I have a lot of hair loss on head, very depressing, being female, I've started using rosemary oil, every night, read up on it, and have started to see improvement, hope this helps, all the best, Antoinette

Joanne, I took my hydrea all at one time until I got to the four capsules a day and began having mouth ulcers. Dividing the dose between morning and evening stopped those.

Hydrea has been very effective for me, periodic dosage increases occurring when one count or the other got too high.

I had a few phlebotomies last year when I transformed to PV, which are the last resort, but ultimately the hydrea got everything stabilized and has remained that way. I haven’t needed a phlebotomy now in 13 months.

Until the mouth ulcers last year, I didn’t have any side effects.

The last few months I have been dealing with actinic keratosis on my face, from overexposure to the sun in my errant youth, brought to the surface by the high dose of Hydrea, I’m told.

Annoying, but I’m still alive and doing pretty well for 75 so I don’t let it get me down.

Hang in there.

Thanks, MH, for your prompt and helpful information regarding Hydrea usage. It is a comfort to me to know that you have been taking it for so long without complications, especially because there is a lot of talk about it being so toxic. I hope I do as well as you with the increased dosage and that maybe I don’t have to have phlebotomies every few months!
I am also dealing with some keratosis on my face recently and had a couple pre squamous lesions removed but going every six months to dermatologist should keep them in check I hope. Thanks again, MH!

I have taken hydrea for the past 25 years, up to a gram a day. I had no side effects at all, no hair loss. I did not divide my doses when I was taking a gram a day, took them both in the morning (I am now only taking 1 gram per week).
